Zest, the UK’s fastest-growing investor-operator of public electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure, is partnering with Heart of England Co-op to roll out ultra-rapid EV charging facilities across nine stores in the Midlands.
The partnership will see the Leeds-based B-Corp deploy chargers at a mix of existing and new stores across the region, including Coventry, Nuneaton, Wellesbourne and Southam, helping customers conveniently top up their EV battery while they shop.
Heart of England Co-op is rolling out the new charging infrastructure as part of its commitment to supporting more sustainable communities and improving access to reliable public EV charging across the region.
Under the multi-year agreement, Zest will fund and operate ultra-rapid charging infrastructure at the selected stores, delivering a seamless charging experience for its customers and the wider community.
With the addition of Heart of England Co-op, Zest continues to grow its portfolio of retail charging collaborations across the UK, alongside Central Co-op and Aldi, advancing its mission to make EV charging equitable in convenient, everyday locations.
John Bridges, head of property services at Heart of England Co-op, said:
“This multi-year agreement is great news for our shoppers and members as the move to electric vehicles continues at pace.
“It’s also great news for the environment and reflects our commitment to support more sustainable communities. We have invested millions in green initiatives over the past few years, and the environment remains a major consideration in everything we do.”
Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said:
“Partnering with Heart of England Co-op allows us to bring reliable ultra-rapid EV charging to even more communities across the Midlands. By installing charging facilities at convenient retail locations, we’re making it easier for drivers to charge as part of their everyday routines while supporting the transition to cleaner transport.
“As organisations with strong community-focused values, we’re proud to work together to help make sustainable travel more equitable for customers across the region.”
