Zest brings ultra-rapid local charging to Whitby

Zest, one of the UK’s fastest growing investor-operators of public access EV charging infrastructure, has opened an EV charging facility in Whitby, providing the community with easy access to convenient charging.

Located on Arundel Place, close to Whitby Community Hospital, the facility offers EV charging running at speeds of up to 160kW. The investment in Whitby has been welcomed by residents, tourists and community leaders.

Part of Zest’s growing EV charging network across North Yorkshire, it marks another progressive step on the journey to reduce reliance on petrol and diesel vehicles, helping to improve local air quality and fight climate change.

Zest is developing EV charging across the UK in areas that lack sufficient EV infrastructure - making it easier for drivers without chargers to conveniently recharge their vehicles close to home, or on-the-go.    

Councillor Neil Swannick, North Yorkshire Council, said:

"This is an important development for Whitby as we continue to support cleaner, more sustainable travel. Reliable access to ultra-rapid EV charging is essential to help more people make the switch to electric vehicles. These new charging spaces on Arundel Place contribute to the infrastructure Whitby needs to be part of the transition to a greener future."
