Zest has opened a new ultra-rapid electric vehicle charging facility at KFC Birstall, helping drivers charge quickly and conveniently while visiting one of the area’s busiest food and retail destinations.
The new site includes six 160kW charging spaces, providing reliable, high-powered charging for local drivers, commuters and shoppers just two minutes from junction 27 on the M62, with the most competitively priced ultra-rapid charging across the shopping park.
The deployment has been delivered as part of Zest’s partnership with franchise operator Soul Foods Group, supporting the expansion of convenient public EV charging at everyday destinations.
Located at KFC Birstall, next to the Junction 27 retail park, the chargers are well placed for drivers stopping for food, shopping or a quick top-up. A Starbucks is also set to open on the same site in the coming weeks, giving drivers even more choice while they charge. Nearby destinations include major retailers such as Ikea, Currys and M&S Food, as well as other food outlets, including Taco Bell.
Bruce Layzell, General Manager UK at Soul Foods, said:
"We’re pleased to work with Zest to bring ultra-rapid EV charging to KFC Birstall. The new facilities give customers another reason to visit, while supporting cleaner transport choices for the communities we serve.”
Robin Heap, CEO at Zest, said:
“KFC Birstall is exactly the kind of everyday destination where convenient EV charging can make a real difference. By placing ultra-rapid chargers where people already stop to eat, shop and travel, we’re helping make EV ownership more practical for more drivers.”
