Zest opens urban charging hub in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter

Zest, one of the UK’s fastest growing investor-operators of public access EV infrastructure, has opened a new hub close to Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter, providing easy access to convenient high-speed charging.

The derelict land on Park Road South, which decades ago was the site of Hockley Rail Station, has been regenerated as an EV hub with 16 charging bays, capable of speeds up to 300kW. There is also an InPost mail locker onsite.

This launch follows similar urban charging hubs recently opened by Zest in Enfield, Leicester and Bolton, as part of the company’s mission to expand EV infrastructure in underserved areas across the UK. The investment has been welcomed by residents, businesses and community leaders.

Councillor Chaman Lal, Birmingham City Council, said:

“The Jewellery Quarter is one of Birmingham’s most historic and vibrant areas, and investments like this help secure its future. Public EV charging supports not just cleaner travel, but the ongoing regeneration of the area -attracting visitors, supporting businesses, and improving the environment for everyone.”
