Zest's new chargers in Welshpool.
Zest has opened new rapid EV charging facilities at the recently developed Starbucks and KFC site in Welshpool, delivered in partnership with site developer Stephen James Property.
Conveniently located off the Buttington Roundabout on the A483, the four 120 kW charging bays serve both the new Starbucks cafe and KFC restaurant, providing a perfect stop for locals, commuters, and visitors.
The launch brings much-needed charging capacity to an area currently underserved by rapid and ultra-rapid charging, with only a handful of comparable chargers available within a 20-mile radius.
At 65p per kWh, Zest’s 120 kW chargers are among the lowest-priced rapid charging options in the area, with consistent 24/7 pricing and no subscription required.
Drivers can pay easily via contactless, the Zest app, or through popular roaming apps including Octopus Electroverse, Allstar, and Plugsurfing.
Zest is expanding its EV charging network across a growing number of big-brand locations throughout the UK, including Starbucks, Aldi, Tesco, KFC, Home Bargains, and Central Co-op. By deploying chargers in well-known retail and hospitality destinations, Zest is seamlessly integrating EV charging into everyday life.
Stephen Summerfield, Director at Stephen James Property, said:
“We’re delighted to partner with Zest on this exciting new development. Adding high-quality EV charging to the site enhances the experience for visitors and supports the growing need for sustainable transport infrastructure in the region.”
Robin Heap, CEO at Zest, said:
“By integrating EV infrastructure into locations people already visit, we make going electric simple and hassle-free. Our investment in Welshpool gives drivers the chance to recharge while using the new facilities, helping reduce emissions and making travel in Mid Wales cleaner and more equitable.”
