Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have appointed Zest, one of the UK’s fastest-growing investor-operators of public EV charging infrastructure, to deliver 200 new electric vehicle (EV) chargepoints across the two boroughs.
The rollout will focus on standalone 22kW fast chargers, helping to provide convenient, local charging for residents - particularly those without access to off-street parking. The approach supports the wider aim of ensuring chargers are located within a short walk of where people live, with sufficient coverage to meet growing demand.
Under the agreement, Zest will install and operate 100 chargepoints in each borough, fully funding the infrastructure and its ongoing operation at no cost to the councils, and supporting the continued expansion of on-street charging across London.
Richmond and Wandsworth Councils join a growing number of local authorities working with Zest, which is delivering EV charging infrastructure for more than 30 public sector organisations nationwide.
Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said:
“Access to reliable, local charging is critical for people who can’t charge at home. By focusing on the right infrastructure in the right locations, projects like this help make electric vehicles a practical option for more residents, while building the foundations for long-term adoption.”
