One of Zest’s EV chargers on the Hyde Park Estate
The Hyde Park Estate now benefits from brand-new electric vehicle (EV)charging infrastructure, thanks to a partnership between Zest and the Church Commissioners for England.
The Hyde Park Estate, owned by the Church Commissioners and located in London’s West End, borders Sussex Gardens, Edgware Road, and Bayswater Road. The Estate covers 90 acres and includes residential properties as well as Connaught Village with boutiques, independent coffee shops, restaurants, and art galleries.
Zest, one of the UK’s fastest growing investor-operators of public access EV charging infrastructure, has deployed 12 charging spaces on the estate, including six at The Water Gardens for residents, four at Porchester Place which are being used by contractors in electric vans who are working on the Estate, and two at The Quadrangle which are accessible by the public
Driven by investment from Zest, a certified B Corporation, the partnership with the Church Commissioners will see the charge point operator provide and manage charging facilities on the estate over the next 15 years.
The new infrastructure on The Hyde Park Estate takes Zest’s network across London to over 1,000 charging points following major deployments for Transport for London, Hackney Council and Brent Council.
Zest is backed by the UK Government sponsored Charging Infrastructure Investment Fund (CIIF), designed to increase the uptake of electric vehicles across the country.
Laura Whyte, Principal Asset Manager at the Church Commissioners for England, said:
“Zest is one of the UK’s fastest-growing EV infrastructure providers, but we were more interested in their ability to provide a long-term service for residents, in tune with the unique setting and environmental values of the Hyde Park Estate. This project achieves these aims, and this partnership is a positive step towards the EV transition and improving local air quality.”
Robin Heap, CEO of Zest, said:
“Church Commissioners for England is committed to reducing carbon emissions across its portfolio as part of its climate action plan. At Zest, we share the same long-term strategic approach to EV infrastructure investment. The new facilities across the Hyde Park Estate bear witness to that, providing residents, visitors and the local community with EV charging exactly where they need it, right on the doorstep.”
