Zest opens ultra-rapid local charging in Clacton-on-Sea

Zest's EV charging facility in Clacton

Zest, one of the UK’s fastest growing investor-operators of public access EV charging infrastructure, has opened an EV charging facility in Clacton-on-Sea, providing the community with easy access to convenient charging.

Located on St Osyth Road the facility offers six charging spaces ranging from 22kw all the way up to 160kw. The investment in Clacton has been welcomed by residents, businesses and community leaders.

This facility is part of Zest’s growing network of local charging across the UK, helping to reduce the reliance on petrol and diesel vehicles and in turn improving local air quality.

By providing convenient public charging in areas with few existing facilities and where home charging is often not an option, Zest is making it easier for more drivers to make the switch to electric.

Councillor Adrian Smith, Cabinet Member for the Environment at Tendring District Council, said:

“We’re pleased to welcome the new electric vehicle chargers in St Osyth Road, Clacton.

“As a coastal district, we understand the effects of climate change, and we’re committed to leading the way on carbon reduction and championing our local environment.

“Our own Climate Action Plan sets out a clear, achievable path to cut emissions over the next 25 years, supporting our ambition to make Tendring a greener, more sustainable place.

“A key part of the plan involves community leadership and encouraging residents and businesses to participate in climate action efforts.

“Zest’s investment helps our district move closer to our goal — making it easier for residents and visitors alike to choose low-carbon transport and play their part in protecting our local environment.”
Robin Heap, CEO at Zest, said:
“Convenient and abundant public charging is essential to give everyone the option to drive an electric vehicle. It needs to be close to where people live and work, and fit easily into people’s daily routines, and that’s what these new charge points in the heart of Clacton-on-Sea. This important local amenity will help improve air quality and make a small contribution to the fight against climate change.”
