Zest's EV charging facility in Wesham, Lancashire
Zest, the UK’s fastest growing investor-operator of public access EV charging infrastructure, has opened an EV charging facility in Wesham, Lancashire, providing the community with easy access to convenient charging.
Located on Segar Street, next to Kirkham and Wesham train station, the facility offers twelve charging spaces running at speeds up to 160kw. The investment in Wesham has been welcomed by residents, local businesses and community leaders.
Part of Zest’s growing EV charging network across the North West, it marks another progressive step on the journey to reduce reliance on petrol and diesel vehicles, helping to improve local air quality and fight climate change.
Zest is developing EV charging across the UK in areas that lack sufficient EV infrastructure - making it easier for drivers without chargers to conveniently recharge their vehicles close to home, or on-the-go.
Councillor Jordan Ledger, Fylde Council, said:
"I'm delighted 12 new EV chargers are coming to Segar Street car park. Easily accessible charging points play a key role in achieving net zero across the country, and I'm pleased Wesham is doing its bit.
"As more and more of us switch to electric vehicles, its vital we have the infrastructure to support this new normal, and to make sure everyone can feel the benefit of cleaner and cheaper energy."
Robin Heap, CEO at Zest, said:
“As more of us switch to electric vehicles, the need for public charging - particularly close to where people live and work - has never been greater. Zest’s local charging facilities, like the one here in Wesham, turn underused spaces into assets that strengthen communities all over the UK.”
